Institut Français and Goethe-Institut Kigali are proud to host the premiere of “Citizen Kwame”,
a Yuhi Amuli film, as part of our franco-allemand movie night series. It is the first time this movie will ever be shown to the public, so we are glad to discuss the making of the movie and the politics of visa with the director and some members of his team after the screening.
Doors open at 6pm, Thursday 2nd. Entrance is free and we look forward to seeing many of you at the Goethe-Institut, KN 27 Street, Kiyovu, Kigali. ????️
Content of the movie: “Citizen Kwame is a minimalistic film about travel visas, set entirely in one compound. Kwame is an African man who wants to travel to the outside of his compound. But he must first get a visa from a Caucasian gatekeeper who controls movements in and out of the gate. It is only with the aid of a newly acquired European girlfriend that he is finally able to succeed.”
