Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) is the Jack Ma Foundation’s flagship philanthropic program in Africa to support entrepreneurs. Our mission is to showcase and grow local talent who are creating positive impact in their communities and beyond, and inspire a movement of African entrepreneurship. Over a ten-year period, the program recognize 100 African entrepreneurs and provide grant funding, training programs, and broader support for the broad African entrepreneurial ecosystem.

THE AFRICA’S BUSINESS HEROES COMPETITION

The prize competition aims to identify, showcase and support African entrepreneurs who are making a difference in their local communities, working to solve the most pressing problems, and building a more sustainable economy for the future.

Every year, they select ten finalists to compete in the ABH Grand finale that is broadcast online and across the continent via the televised Africa’s Business Heroes Show.

The finalists compete for a share of USD $1.5 million in grant money, as well as gain access to mentorship, training and the ABH community.

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT TRAINING

ABH works with its anchor partners to provide a range of tools and learning resources such as Webinars, Investor Pitch Prep, mentorship and more to both our finalists and the broader ecosystem of African SMEs.

THE SUMMIT

The culminating event of the Africa’s Business Heroes competition that brings featuring a conference, workshops, masterclasses and the grand finale. The summit provides an opportunity to bring together key stakeholders in the entrepreneurship ecosystem to explore the state of entrepreneurship in Africa, network and develop new insights and skills to support their work within the ecosystem.
