THE SCREENING
“Not a choice” is a short film about body expression and emotional verbal abuse. It also talks about feelings that bring out the challenges of sexual orientation and the pain of discrimination and not being heard.
The film follows a young trans woman born in a man’s body and a trans man born in a woman’s body. Their lives consist of struggle and insecurity with their own physicality. From their teenage years, their growing bodies change and so do society’s reactions to them.
Discrimination and lack of understanding are part of their everyday life.

THE PANEL DISCUSSION

The conversation will not only focus on the film, it will be based on the challenges of the queer community and how filmmakers can contribute to the community and be the voice of those who are vulnerable. We will also discuss how art and film can raise awareness and be part of advocacy.
